Apple has officially confirmed the date and time for their keynote, where they’ll announce the latest phones and other devices. On the 9th September 2026, at 6pm GMT, John Ternus will be hosting the event.
The Launch Event Details
Apple has been sending out invitations on 26th August for the event titled ‘Surprise and Shine’. Keep an eye out if you’ve got one but if not, you can tune in on their website. Be sure to remember these event details so you don’t miss it:
- Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2026
- Time: 6pm GMT
- Location: Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park – streamed online
The event will be hosted by John Ternus for the first time. He will be the new Apple CEO from 1st September, taking over from Tim Cook who will be moving to the role of Executive Chairman.
The First-Ever Foldable iPhone
It’s been said that this event will be announcing the first ever foldable iPhone. Some reports state it will be more of a folding book design rather than a flip phone. This means it will open into a larger screen size instead of looking for the smallest collapsable device. Reports suggest their focus on a design like this will be the build quality and slim profile. No name has been confirmed – that’ll be under wraps until the event.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
Typical to the Apple fashion – the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be the most ‘standard’ launches of the keynote. The focus of these models is expected to be orientated around upgrading rather than redesigning. Possible upgrades could include:
- A20 Pro chip for quicker performance
- Variable-aperture main camera for greater control
- Improved modem technology and refined display details
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4
As is typical for the Apple keynotes – the mobiles won’t be the only technology to feature. There are currently many rumours suggesting the announcement of an Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Both are expected to be quicker, improved health tracking and better battery life but we’ll have to see what John Ternus showcases.
Key Dates To Know
Based on Apple’s typical schedule (not yet officially confirmed):
- Possible pre-orders: Saturday, September 12 – shifted from the usual Friday out of respect for the 25th anniversary of September 11.
- Possible sale date: Friday, September 18
